Free Skribbl Alternative for Browser Draw-and-Guess
One drawer, a shared canvas, and chat guesses for 2–12 friends. No download and no account.
A Skribbl alternative is a draw-and-guess game you can open in a browser: one person sketches a secret word, everyone else types guesses, and faster correct guesses score more. Sketch is that room for 2–12 friends, with a code, one shared canvas, and a host who sets rounds, the clock, the word pack, and letter hints.
Use it when the group wants the classic loop people mean by Skribbl.io or a free Pictionary night. It is not a team race. If every group should draw the same word at once, stay on Partyy Games and open Draw Battle instead. Sketch also has no custom word lists and no extra languages. A paid Skribbl room is the better tool when the night depends on a private list or another language.
How to start a Skribbl alternative room
A default match is listed around 10–15 minutes. More seats or a clock that runs out makes it longer. Fast guessing makes it shorter. Friends join on a phone or laptop with no account. Keep Zoom, Meet, Teams, or Discord for voices, and paste that link into the room.
- Open sketch.partyygames.com and create a room.
- Share the six-digit code. You need 2 players to start. The room holds 12.
- Set the lobby, then start.
| Setting | Choices | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Rounds | 1–5. One round is a full pass of the table, not a single drawing. | 3 |
| Draw time | 30, 60, 80, 100, or 120 seconds | 80 seconds |
| Word pack | Everyday or Party | Everyday |
| Hints | 0, 1, or 2 automatic letter reveals | 2 |
Join order at the start is the draw order for the whole match. Seat someone who wants to draw later before you press start.
For a first game with 2–4 people, leave the defaults. For 5–8, drop to 2 rounds or a 60-second clock so the wait between drawings stays short. For a work call or mixed ages, stay on Everyday with 2 hints. Turn hints off only if the group asked for a harder picture.
Ten or twelve players and 3 rounds is a long night: twelve people means 36 turns. Drop to 1–2 rounds, or plan the guest list with online party games for large groups.
How a turn works
Pick (10 seconds). The drawer sees three unused words and chooses one. If the timer expires, the room gets the first option. Nobody else sees the choices.
Draw. The drawer sees the word. Everyone else sees blanks, with spaces already shown. Only the drawer can ink. Guessers type in the box under the canvas. The drawer cannot guess, and someone who already got it cannot guess again. A correct guess shows as “Alex guessed it,” without the word.
The turn ends when the clock hits zero or every other player has guessed. The word and that turn’s points show for 5 seconds, then the next person picks. After the last turn, the host can start another match. If fewer than two players remain, the match ends on the current scores.
A correct guess scores at least 10 points: a base of 450 scaled by the time left, minus 40 for each player who already guessed it. The drawer is paid when the turn ends, half of each guesser’s points, and 0 if nobody got it.
Hints follow the clock. One hint opens a letter halfway through. Two hints open letters at 40% and 70%. Each hint reveals one new letter and every copy of it. The drawer always sees the full word.
Only the host can kick, and not themselves. A kicked player cannot rejoin. In the lobby they leave the seat list. Mid-turn, a kicked guesser loses that turn’s points, and kicking the drawer ends the turn with a drawer score of 0. Use it when someone dropped the call or is holding the pen and not drawing.
Sketch or Draw Battle
| You want | Play |
|---|---|
| One person draws, everyone else guesses | Sketch |
| Teams drawing the same word at once, with catch-up power-ups | Draw Battle |
| A word game and nobody wants to draw | Bluff or Word Bomb |
| A Drawful-style party-pack stand-in | Draw Battle, also in free Jackbox alternatives |
Sketch is the Skribbl-style room. Draw Battle is the room where everyone draws together. Both run in the browser on each person’s own device, so you do not have to screen-share one desktop and hope the picture stays readable.
Draw-and-guess games when you want a Skribbl-style night
Sketch
The free draw-and-guess room: one drawer, three word choices, a shared canvas, and chat guesses scored by speed and order. Host sets rounds, timer, word pack, and hints.
Play Sketch Free NowDraw Battle
Teams sketch the same prompt at the same time and race to guess their own canvas. Pick this instead of Sketch if a single-drawer queue would leave half the call idle.
Play Draw Battle Free NowBluff
A word-party round for the friend who will not pick up a brush. Everyone writes a fake answer, then votes. Same call, same room-code habit, none of the canvas.
Play Bluff Free NowWord Bomb
Type a real word that contains the fragment before the fuse ends. Use it while the last two people are still joining the Sketch lobby.
Play Word Bomb Free NowVibe
A short spectrum round while you rematch or change the timer. One clue, everyone places a needle. Useful when the group wants a break from drawing.

Start with the default lobby
For a first night, leave rounds at 3, the draw timer at 80 seconds, hints at 2, and the word pack on Everyday. That is one full pass of the table, three times. Switch to the Party pack only after the group is comfortable saying those words out loud on the call.
Put the drawer on the larger screen
Guessers can play from a phone. The person drawing has an easier time with a laptop trackpad or a tablet, because the canvas and the brush tools need a bit of room. Pass the “you’re drawing” seat to whoever has the better screen when you seat the room.
Keep the word off the call
The drawer sees the full word. Everyone else sees a mask, then a “name guessed it” line when someone is right. If the drawer says the word, or a guesser reads their guess aloud before typing it, the turn is over for the wrong reason. Guess in the chat box only.
Shorten the clock when turns drag
Each seat draws once per round. Six players and 3 rounds is 18 turns. If people are waiting, drop the next match to 60 seconds and 2 rounds. The turn also ends early once every non-drawer has guessed, so a sharp room finishes well under the clock.
Paste the call link once
Create the room, copy the code, and save your Zoom, Meet, Teams, or Discord link in the room. Late joiners need the code and the call, not a thread of screenshots. Kick only replaces someone who left or who is holding the pen and not drawing.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a free Skribbl alternative?
Sketch at sketch.partyygames.com is a free browser draw-and-guess game in the Skribbl style. One player draws, everyone else types guesses, and you join with a room code. There is no download, account, or party-pack purchase. It is not a copy of every Skribbl setting: there are no custom word lists and no extra languages.
How many players can join?
You need at least 2 players and can seat up to 12. Join order at the start becomes the draw order for the whole match, and each round is one pass of that order. Bigger rooms mean more turns, so 4–8 players is the comfortable range for a weeknight.
How does scoring work?
A correct guess scores at least 10 points, from a base of 450 scaled by the seconds left on the draw clock, minus 40 for each player who already got it. The drawer earns half of each guesser’s points for that turn, paid when the turn ends. If nobody guesses, the drawer gets nothing for the turn.
Can you play on a phone?
Yes. Guessers type into the chat field on a phone. Drawing works on a phone too, with the same colors, brush size, fill, eraser, undo, and clear. A larger screen is kinder to the drawer. Keep a video call on a second device if you want faces and the canvas at the same time.
What is the difference between Sketch and Draw Battle?
Sketch is one shared canvas and one drawer at a time, which is the classic Skribbl loop. Draw Battle puts teams on their own canvases drawing the same word at once, with catch-up power-ups. Use Sketch when you want turns and a single picture. Use Draw Battle when you want everyone drawing together.
Do hints reveal the whole word?
No. The host chooses 0, 1, or 2 hints. One hint reveals a letter at halfway through the clock. Two hints reveal letters at 40% and 70% of the timer. Each hint shows one new letter and every copy of that letter. Spaces stay visible the whole time. The drawer always sees the full word.
A free Skribbl alternative is a browser room with one drawer and chat guesses, not a console stream. Open Sketch, share the code, and leave the defaults on for the first match. If your group would rather have every team drawing at once, switch to Draw Battle. For Fibbage-style and other party-pack stand-ins, see free Jackbox alternatives.
